Book review-7 Marvin Redpost 3

The main character is Marvin Redpost, a little boy. He is in Mrs. North’s class, and he sits next to Casey. Marvin thinks that Casey is a weird girl. Casey says, “if you kiss yourself on your elbow, you will turn into a girl” to Marvin. It means if a girl kisses on her elbow, she will be a girl, and if a boy kisses on his elbow, he will be a girl! Casey says that you can change back, too. Marvin didn’t believe in it, but he tried it. He wasn’t sure if he can reach his elbow, so he just wanted to know if he can, and it did! Suddenly, Casey shouts. She says, “Oh my gosh, you were trying to kiss your elbow! You want to be a girl.” Many students in the class heard it, so Marvin was embarrassed. He tries to deny it. He says, “I had an itch.” They are just kids. I think these conversations are cute. Don’t you think so? I learned the phrase, “I had an itch”.(176/4727 words)

BOWLING in JAPAN

The girl who is rolling a ball was my host sister. Her name is Julia, and she is two years younger than me. When I was a high school student, I went to the U.S. as an exchange student. There were mom, dad, and three sisters. The oldest sister and I were the same age, and the other sisters were twins! Julia is one of the twins. She always woke me up on Saturday and Sunday morning. I didn't have to wake up so early, but she always woke me up, and we ate breakfast together. I liked eating pancake for breakfast. On Sunday, I went to Church with the family, and I went to Sunday school, too. I wasn't a Christian, but it was good to learn their way of thinking. Many Japanese people say children, "if you do something bad, you will go to the hell, and if you do good things, you can go to seven." I thought it is world common, but it was not. Christian doesn't think like that. They think only the people who believe in God can go to heaven. Stephanie, the oldest host sister told me she thinks it is wrong that people who did bad things go to hell because everyone do bad things. Even if you didn't kill anybody or steal anything, you may have injured people, so you can't say who is bad or who is good. I understood it and agreed with the thinking. I got new ideas from them. Anyway, Julia was in Japan as an exchange student on August. Stephanie has been Japan few years ago, too. When I was in America, Julia said that she wanted to come to Japan, so I was glad that she did it! Then I went to Tamana to see her. I drove my mom's car to Tamana. I was kind of scared because I got car license about two years ago, but I hadn't driven alone so much. At first, we went to eat out. She couldn't eat a lot of kind of Japanese food, but she tried to eat. I said that she didn't have to eat it if she didn't like it, but she said she wanted to because she won't get so many chances to come to Japan. How nice she is! After eating lunch, we went for bowling. I remembered that Stephanie, Nicole, Julia, and I did bowling in America. We had fun! After that, we went to Jusco to get some snacks. Stephanie and Nicole liked Japanese snacks, so Julia got snacks for them. Then I took Julia to her host family's home, and said goodbye. I hope that we can see each other again.(451/4551 words)

A japanese sweet like an orange

This is a picture of an orange. Well, it’s not real orange. In fact, it is just a Japanese sweet. Can you tell the difference? Isn’t it cool? I think it is. I took the picture when I was a high school student. One of my friends made it in a class. I’m from T.G.H.S. They have a food department, so the students who belong to food department often have classes to cook. Then the friend made the Japanese sweet in one of the class. I asked her, “was it difficult?” she said, “Not really, I think everyone can make it.” However it seemed very difficult for me. When I was a high school student, I didn’t cook at all. Just sometimes I helped my mother cooking, so I couldn’t cook very well. However now, I live at an apartment alone, so I must cook. At first, I didn’t know much about cooking, but as I cook, I noticed that I like cooking. I think I’m not bad at cooking. I will put my supper on my blog sometime.(‘U’)(179/4100 words)

A Hair Cut Show

Look at this picture. This is a picture of me and my friend, Michiru. On November 3rd, K.U. had a school festival, and Stuffs from Nifty, a hair salon came to give a hair cut show. Michiru and I were on the stage. Michiru and I wore exactly same cloths on the stage. We just had different color tights. I had black and medium hair, but I said okay to get my hair cut, so I got little bit shorter. I also died my hair. I thought there won’t be anyone that I know because it was not K.G.U. However, some of my friends were there. I had to pretend like I’m cool, so I shouldn’t have smiled, but my friends make me laugh, so I smiled a lot. I had to wear high-heeled shoes, so my legs were kind of tired, but it was an interesting experience. After the show, I got my hair cut at Nifty. I got really short hair. I was surprised, but I like this hair style better than before.(175/3921 words)

Book review 6 Matilda

Matilda is a little girl, but she is not just a little girl. Matilda is very smart. When she was three years old, she could read newspaper. Matilda wanted to read a book. One day, she asked her father for a book, but he said no. He said that they have good TV, so she doesn’t need books, and he also said to just watch the TV. Matilda’s family is strange. Her father and mother are not interested in their children. Matilda has a older brother. He is spoiled by his parents. They are sometimes mean to Matilda. However Matilda is smart, so she studies by herself somehow. As she grows up, she starts to go to a school. The principal of the school is a woman. She is called Miss Trunchbull. She is big, and she is a terrible woman. She always uses violence on students. Students and teachers are scared of her. Matilda’s teacher’s name is Miss Honey. She is about twenty-three years old, and a nice teacher. Students like her. Miss Honey knew that Matilda is a very clever girl, and she thinks that Matilda should stay in a higher class, then she can learn more. However Miss Trunchbull says no. Then Miss Honey goes to Matilda’s house to talk with Matilda’s parents about her, and she notices that the parents are not very nice for Matilda. Miss Honey wants to help Matilda to make her life better. After a while, they Miss Honey makes Matilda to stay at Miss Honey’s home. Matilda likes Miss Honey, and Miss Honey is nice to Matilda, so it was good for Matilda. Matilda notices that she has a mysterious power that people don’t have, and she practices a lot to improve the power. Miss Honey and Matilda take revenge to Miss Trunchbull by using the power! This book was easy to understand because I had watched this story on TV before.(321/3746)

William Thacker is the main character of this story. He is twenty-eight years old, and he and his many friends live in Notting Hill. He had a wife. His wife left him for another man about two years before. Now William Thacker lives his life with man named Spike. William Thacker works at a shop called The Travel Book Company. One day, when he was working at his shop, a very beautiful woman came. He thinks he knows her, and he tries to remember who she is. Then he remembers that she is Anna Scott, the biggest film star. Most men think that she is the most beautiful girl on Earth. William tries to calm, and they talk friendly. Anna Scott buys a guidebook and leaves his shop. He will never see her again, so he feels empty. After that, William is at a café with Martin, and he gets an orange juice. Then he goes back to the bookshop with the orange juice again. When he turned the corner to the bookshop, he walked straight into a woman. He says sorry and looks up the woman’s face. It was Anna Scott! She is angry. William takes her to his home to clean her cloths. At that time, they didn’t talk that much, but after the day, William called her to date. Then they got closer.
I read this book just because the woman in the picture of the cover was cute. I liked the story, too. I think it has movie, too, so I want to watch the movie.(260/3425)
