last day to see my best friend

It is the last day to see my best friend because she is leaving Japan two days later! She lives in Kikusui, Tamana. She has a test today, so she comes to school. However she doesn’t have any class tomorrow, so she doesn’t come to school tomorrow! Today, it will be the last day to see her. She is going to stay in New Zealand about six months. I can’t imagine what it is like to be separated because we were so close friends from High School days. When I went to and came back from America, she gave me scrapbooks that she made them for me, and they made me so happy. She is like my mother. She always cares for me. Anyway, I don’t want her to goooooo!!!!!! (130 words)

Go to DOWNTOWN in KUMAMOTO

I like to go to downtown because many exciting things are there. When I have time, I always go there even if I didn’t have any things to buy. When I don’t have money, I always go window shopping, and many cute stuff make me want to buy them.
Today, I’m going to go to downtown to eat out with my friend. I usually don’t eat out so often, but sometimes I feel I want to eat really yummy foods. I haven’t decided what to eat, yet, but I’m so looking forward it. I always go to downtown by my bicycle, but I don’t think I’m doing it today because it’s freezing out there! The T.V. said that it is going to be cold again this weekend. I hate cold weather!
Tomorrow I have a test, so I will be home soon, and I will be studying so hard.
I have one more thing to do. It is making a scrapbook! My best friend from High School is going to go to New Zealand to study abroad in end of this month. Then I’m making a scrapbook for her, so I got a lot of her pictures. I will miss her a lot. I hope that she really enjoys there and comes back to Japan soon. However it will be nice experience for her, and I am excited to hear her stories there. (233 words)

Some Interesting Things

I got a book from one of my friend, and the book was about Buddha. It was interesting to read, but some parts of them were difficult to understand. I always read the book before sleeping in my bed, but I always fell asleep soon. These days, I’m so sleepy. I bit I can sleep about two days if I have no school. I sleep too much!
I have read the bible, and it was some times difficult, too. However learning about Christian was very interesting to me. I used to think people go to heaven if they did good thing, and people who had done very bad thing go to hell, but my Christian friend told me that she doesn’t think so because everyone has done some bad thing. It can be small thing or really bad thing, and nobody can judge it. I really agreed with her.
　Today I watched “Hamlet” and “Macbeth”. They are Shake Spear’s works. I watch them to write papers for one of my class. I still need to watch “Twelfth Night”. They are kind of difficult to watch because they speak old English.　However it is good to know about Shake Spear’s works. (200 words)

Journal

It’s getting warm these days, isn’t it? After my part-time job, I go home by bicycle, so I hate cold weather. However it’s warm from last weekend. Maybe spring is coming soon! However it’s still January, so it will be getting cold again. I don’t like that.
Which do you like, winter or summer? I hate getting suntan, but I’m sure that I like summer better than winter because I don’t want to go out and I want to stay in my room or in my bed in winter.
I think my dog, Shiro doesn’t like winter, neither because she always looks cold! Poor Shiro. (105 words)

Sasebo-Burger

Look at this picture! Can you tell what this is? This is a picture of a Sasebo-burger. About two years ago, I went to Sasebo to eat Sasebo burger with my friends. It was very long trip. We didn’t drive the expressway, so it took about five hours to get there. The night before the day, I didn’t have enough time to sleep, but I drove all the way without stopping. Of course I was so tired, but we really wanted to get there soon! Now I could tell that it was very dangerous thing to do, and I won’t do that again. When we got Sasebo city, we went to the beach at first. It was cloudy in the morning, but it was sunny there. The sea was very clear, too. After a while, we went to the zoo. I hadn’t been to any zoo these years, so we had a lot of fun. Then finally we went to get Sasebo-burgers! The most famous shop for Sasebo-burger was close, so we went the next store, but it still tasted good. After that, my friend drove to go back to Kumamoto. Two of us were sleeping on the way, so just the driver was awake. I’m sure that she was very sleepy, too. I felt so sorry for her, but she said to never mind. How nice she is! (229 words)

things I got to do!

Last week, I had to write a paper for one of my classes, called “Nihon-kindaishi”. We learn about three writings of Natsume Souseki in the class. We choose one of them, and read it then write a paper about his philosophy. We had to write at least 1200 letters in Japanese. It’s not so long, but it was kind of difficult subject for me. I read one of Natsume Souseki’s writings again over and over. It made me so tired, so I was very happy when I finished the assignment. However I still have some other papers.
Yesterday, I did another one for my Buraku-kaihouron class. The class is about discrimination. It is interesting class because it’s good to have the time to think about discrimination. Then this week, I am going to write another paper for my Eibei-bungaku-koudoku class. We learn about some literary works of Shake Spear. Sometimes we read the passages or watch the DVDs. We have watched “Hamlet”, “Twelfth night”, “Macbeth”, and one more DVD, I can’t remember how you spell it. I knew that Hamlet is very famous, but I didn’t know the story, so it was good to know. However they speak old English, so it is kind of difficult to understand. (208 words)

Before Sunrise and Before Sunset

I love those DVDs so much. They are not really funny or interesting, but they make me want to watch them again and again.
The main characters are Celine and Jesse.
Celine is a French woman, and going back to Paris because she goes to school, and her classes are starting next week. Jesse is an American and going to visit Vienna, but he has no plans to do, and he just knows that he is flying out of there tomorrow. They are taking same train, and they talk each other on the train and have a lively conversation. Of course they were going to get off the train at different station, but when Jesse was going to get off the train at Vienna, he asks Celine to come with him. At first, Celine was reluctant to go with him, but talking with Jesse was interesting for her, so they took off the train and walked around. They talked about each other like, about their family, what kind of people they like, and what do they hate, or something like that. They talked about each other so much. They went to record shop, a park, an amusement ground, a restaurant, and they also walked alongside of the river. In the night, they didn’t sleep, and they just kept walking and talking. Then it is time to leave there. Jesse takes Celine to see her off at a station, and Celine is going to take a train to go back to Paris. They liked each other, but they didn’t exchange their phone numbers. They just promised to see each other at just where they were about six months later. Then they leave there. “Before Sunrise” didn’t tell us if they really could see each other again, and the DVD ends. “Before Sunset” is the sequel of “Before Sunrise”. As I watch “Before Sunset”, I knew that they couldn’t see each other! Isn’t it so sad? However many years later, they met in Paris, and they seemed to be much older than before. The reason why they didn’t see each other at the station again was because Celine couldn’t be there because of her grandma’s death. Then the reason why they met in Paris was, Jesse wrote a book which tells about their trip in Vienna, and Celine read it then she knew that Jesse was coming to Paris for a talk show about the book. At first, Jesse lied Celine to pretend like he didn’t go there, neither, but later he tells her the truth that he did go there to see her and looked around for her couple days. They walked around Paris and let each other know how they’ve been getting along. The saddest thing in this story was, Jesse already had a wife and a child, and he still loves Celine. Celine still loves him, too. Jesse doesn’t really love his wife, but he loves his kid so much, so he is trying hard to establish a happy home for his kid. I remember that Jesse says something about married life in the first part of the DVD, “Before Sunrise”. He says that people can’t marry people who are really in love with. However people want to believe that we can, right? I like Celine because she is intelligent and an independent woman. (555 words)

MOVIE- No Reservation

The main character is Kate, she is one of the best chefs in the city, and she has a kitchen at a restaurant. Many customers love her dishes. Of course there are some customers who don’t like her food, but she is sure that her food is perfect, so she doesn’t satisfy to their orders. This is kind of her problem. Her boss says, “If you were not one of the best chefs, I would fire you.” One more problem about her is, she is not going to date anyone, and she doesn’t even want to. The best thing for her was working and cooking, so she works everyday.


One day, Kate’s sister was coming to her home with her daughter, Zoe, an elementary school student. When they were driving to Kate’s house, Kate and her sister was talking on the phone. Kate asks her what Zoe likes for dinner, and Zoe’s mom answers, “She eats anything. She is a vacuum cleaner.” However, they had car accident on the way to Kate’s house. Zoe was okay, but Zoe’s mom died. Then Kate’s boss made Kate to take a week off. Kate decided to let Zoe stay in her house because Zoe didn’t have her father.


Kate and Zoe started to live together, and Kate cooks very nice dinner for Zoe every night, but Zoe doesn’t eat anything, and just says that she is not hungry. However Kate said nothing to Zoe because she knew it’s so tough for her to loose her mom so young.
Kate is still on the days off, but Kate goes to see how people are doing at the kitchen in the restaurant during the dinner time. Then Kate sees a guy that she doesn’t know in the kitchen, and they seem they really enjoy cooking working there. Kate’s boss says that Nicholas, the new guy in the kitchen is a very nice chef and many restaurants offered him to work there, but he chose her restaurant because he wanted to work with Kate. However she doesn’t like that. Maybe she felt like he would take the kitchen from her.


About Zoe, she still doesn’t eat. She just answers Kate’s questions yes or no. Zoe knows Kate is trying hard to make Zoe happier, but she doesn’t need it.
Kate is under a lot of stress because at home, Zoe isn’t still attached to her, and Nicholas is annoying for her in the kitchen. One day, Kate takes Zoe to the kitchen in the restaurant during her work. Zoe talked to Nicholas and ate his food! Kate was very glad to see her eating. Zoe starts to talk to Kate, too, and follows her wherever she goes. Zoe goes to the restaurant everyday and enjoys helping them. Kate starts to appreciate Nicholas, too. One day, Zoe asks Kate to invite Nicholas to their home for dinner. Then Zoe made pizza for Kate with Nicholas. Isn’t that so sweet? That made me so happy. When Zoe and Kate just started to live together, Zoe didn’t talk to Kate and showed no feeling, but it was not only about Zoe. Kate showed no feeling to Zoe, neither, and Kate couldn’t make Zoe to do something even when she should because Kate felt sorry for Zoe to loose her mom. However these days they got closer, and talked a lot. They got mad at each other and yelled at each other. People can’t argue if they were not really close, right? They are becoming just like a family finally.


Kate got a phone call from Zoe’s teacher, and told her to stop letting Zoe to work at restaurant together because Zoe shouldn’t be working place at the night, you know. That’s sad that Zoe can’t be there any more, but it wasn’t only bad thing. Kate started to take a day off to play with Zoe sometime. Kate used to work EVERYDAY, but now she is taking some break and enjoys her life!
I thought the story was ending, but they got another problem. In the restaurant, the boss always asked Kate for all jobs, but now, the boss is asking many things to Nicholas. Kate gets mad at the boss and Nicholas because she was loosing her kitchen.
Aren’t you interested how they solve it?

Sleepy Head

I’m in the Library at KGU and so sleepy because I went to bed at four last night. Actuary, it was almost early in the morning. I was watching “No Reservation” and wrote a review. Then I was going to wake up six O’clock, but I woke up at about ten thirty. I was so surprised. I didn’t hear the alarm at six. I heard my phone was ringing, and it was my friend, and she said that she just called me to wake me up. Last night, we e-mailed and I said to her that I would try to come to school around nine, she knew that I wasn’t awake in the morning because I didn’t reply to her, so she just called me before my class starts. I really appreciated it. Today I had second and third period. Of course the classes were interesting but I was so sleepy during the classes. (154 words)

Taking Medicines

It’s so cold these days, isn’t it? I got cold, so I take some medicine every day. I always remember one thing about medicine. When I was in America, I got cold, and my mom sent a medicine because I wasn’t sure that American medicine works for my Japanese body. I didn’t know that we can’t take any medicines to school without a special permission, so I brought, and one of my friends was very surprised about that, and told me that I need my host mother’s or host father’s signature then I hided my medicine. Isn’t it’s kind of funny? Every time I take the medicine, I remember that. (110 words)

Into the Wild

I watched “Into the Wild” in my Movie English class. Is this movie famous in America? I had never heard about this movie, but I liked the movie. Actually, I liked almost every part of the movie, but I didn’t like the last part because a boy, the main character, dies, and I couldn’t believe that it is the real story! It’s not fiction. The main character in the movie is bone in a rich family, but he didn’t like everything in the society. He burns all his money and backpacks to Alaska. A teacher of Movie English class told us sometimes it happens that in America. It surprised me a lot. Before I watch this movie, I used to want to be a backpacker sometime, but now, I don’t think I want to be any more because many dangers are there more than I thought! In the movie, the boy didn’t write or call his parents, so his parents were very worried about him. Then long months or years later, they knew there son died in far away. I wanted him to go back to his home, and he won’t die so soon. This movie was so deep, and it made me think something a lot. (207 words)

What I did recently

Until the night on December 30th, I had my part time job, so I went back to my home in Yamaga in the morning December 31st. I was so happy that I could stay with my family on the end of the year because last year, I had my part time job from December 24th to January 3rd, so I stayed at my apartment alone! Isn’t it terrible? So I was so happy this year! In the morning, I cleaned up my apartment, and left. I was very looking forward to see my do, Shiro. She seemed gained weight little bit, but she was still cute! My mother and I dote on Shiro too much, and we think that our dog is the smartest and the cutest dog in the world. Actually, she can’t do anything.
At the night, I went to bed before seeing the old year out and the New Year in. In my family, we usually eat the buckwheat noodles eaten on New Year’s Eve around twelve O’clock just like other Japanese do. Then I woke up late on January 1st, and I visited the grave with my mom and dad. It was so cold and I didn’t want to go out, but I feel weird if I didn’t visit grave on New Year’s Day.
The next day, my dad’s sister and her family came to see us from Fukuoka. We eat lunch together every year, and we talk each other a lot. Then they go back to their home in the evening. It was good to see each other. The next day, I went to see one of my friends from Junior High School. She said she was going to marry her boyfriend on September or October. We are only 21 years old now! Isn’t it too fast to marry someone? However she seemed so happy, so I was happy, too. Then after we talked a lot, I went to get some DVDs to watch, and went back my home. I got two DVDs, Desperate Housewives and Gray’s Anatomy. Do you know them? I really like them because they are funny and little bit serious sometimes. I enjoyed watching them, and I helped my mom making supper then we ate. In the night, I was going to go back to my apartment, but I quit and I decided to stay one night longer at my home. Next day, I finished watching the DVDs, and went back to my apartment. Spending time in my parents gave me a chance to relax. (424 words)

How to steal a million
I watched a DVD, called “How to Steal a Million”. This is really old movie, but I wanted to watch it because Audrey Hepburn was in the movie. She plays the main character, Nicole Bonnet. The story is…


Nicole lives with her father Charles Bonnet. He is very good at painting, and he makes many counterfeits, then he sells them. Nicole really doesn’t like it because it’s a crime. She always keeps telling him to stop selling his fake masterpieces, but he doesn’t care at all, and he gave Kleber-Lafavette museum a loan of his statue of Cellini Venus. The Cellini Venus that Charles made is displayed in a famous museum.


One day, Nicole was alone in her house at the night, and reading a book in her room then she heard a noise. She goes down stairs to check if someone is there, and a thief was there. The stranger was looking and doing something with a picture on the wall. Nicole didn’t call police because of the counterfeits.


Nicole thinks the man who was in her house was stealing the picture, but actually he is not. He is a “private detective, specializing in stolen work of art”, so at that night, he was chipping a piece of the coloring from Charles’ painting.
However Dermott, the private detective, didn’t tell that to Nicole and acted like a thief. Of course he found out that the pictures are not real, but told nobody. Nicole and Dermott didn’t notice by themselves yet, but they were already in love.


Another day, an old man came to the house and said that they insured Cellini Venus against all accidents for one million dollars. He also asks Charles, “Would you like to be present at the technical examination?” He says that’s they are required to insure.
Now they are in big problem.


Nicole contacts to Dermott to steal the Cellini Venus from the museum before the “technical examination”. At first, he wasn’t going to that because the Cellini Venus is under close guards, and he couldn’t understand why she needs to steal hers. However she can’t tell why, but she must do. They dates and think how to steal.
The day to steal it came. They go to the museum, and they stay at the museum after it closed somehow. They hide a tiny space under the stairs, and wait until midnight. Dermott does steal the Cellini Venus with a magnet, piece of rope, and a boomerang! Can you imagine how did he make it? He is really genius. He is detective, so he knows many things to steal! Then they go home with the Cellini Venus, and he tells Nicole everything. He tells that he knew Cellini Venus wasn’t real, he could guess when Nicole asked him to steal it.
At the end of the story, Dermott meet Charles and warns him to never do it, but Charles never learns and he still keeps enjoying it. Anyway, Nicole and Charles are very happy because they don’t need to have technical examination.




I love this movie. The story was interesting and how Dermott steal the Cellini Venus was really awesome. I also liked Nicole in old-fashioned clothes. They were so cute! I really recommend you to watch it. I think girls will like it.　(557 words)

Movie Review-5 Groundhog Day

This is a romantic comedy movie. I think this movie is telling us to do something nice for people, and do not to be selfish or egotistic.


The main character is Phil Connor who is a weatherman. He isn’t nice to people because he thinks he is a star or something, and he acts like a star. Every year he has to go to Pennsylvania to cover an event, called Groundhog Day. Groundhog Day is a day when a groundhog comes and tells us that spring is coming soon. Phil hates the event and hates going to the town because it is the countryside. Of course he is not nice to the people in the town. In the last part of the movie, he falls in love with Rita, a woman who works with Phil, and tries to make her fall in love with him.


The basic story of this movie is that tomorrow doesn’t come to Phil. Phil spends the same day again and again. On February 2nd, Phil was staying in Pennsylvania for Groundhog Day, as usual. In the morning, the radio says that it is Groundhog Day, and Phil wakes up then goes to report the event. The next morning, Phil hears that radio say it’s Groundhog Day, today, and the same thing happens just like yesterday. At first, he does what he wants. He does many bad things, but after falls in love with Rita, he notices that doing bad things doesn’t make people or him happy.


In my case, even when I got things that I wanted, like clothes, shoes, or bags, I felt that I wanted more. Only getting things for myself still makes me feel like there is something missing. However when someone was pleased because of me, I would be really happy. I think everyone felt that, too. I looked back these few days if I had done something nice for people around me, and I couldn’t remember, so I will try to do something good for someone from today. This movie made me think about not little things, but really important things. (354 words)

My Stay in Okinawa

Last summer, I went to Okinawa to see one of my friends. She is not from Okinawa, but she is living in Okinawa for one year. Her name is Sayako, and she is 21 years old. Sayako and I are very good friends from K.G.U. Now Sayako goes to O.K.U as an exchange student for one year. She said that she had never lived without her family, so she wanted to try to live alone. She says she really enjoys her stay in Okinawa. When she left Kumamoto, I promised that I would visit her before she gets back to Kumamoto, so I did. At six O’clock, I went Kumamoto Kotsu C. and took a bus to Fukuoka Airport. Then I got on the plane. I was so excited because I loved Okinawa and could see my friend. When I got off the plane, my friend was waiting there for me. We rented a car, and went to Churaumi- aquarium. I took this picture there. They had so big water tank. It was the biggest in Japan! There were so many interesting fish and shark and…and more! A boy was tying to take pivtures of sharks. I thought it was so cute, so I took a picture of him. We also watched “Oki-chan Show”. Oki-chan is a name of a dolphin. We enjoyed watching that, and went to the beach. The water was so clear. However it was kind of dark, so we went back to Sayako’s apartment. We took about one and half hour to get there. We were lost kind of, but we could go back to her home some how. Then we went to Yakiniku and ate a lot. The next day, we went shopping and beach again. It was sunny day, and many people were there. The water wasn’t so cold. I felt like I’m in Onsen. In the evening, we went to Kokusaidori. They had many interesting stores, but I got nothing and ate supper there. The night was my last stay in Okinawa. Sayako and I talked a lot and fell asleep. The next day, I took airplane and went back to Kumamoto. I want to go there again. (365/4178 words)

CUTE KITTY★

Look at this cute cat’s picture! This is not my cat, but my friend’s cat. This is American-short-hair-cat. Do you know about American-short-hair-cat? I didn’t know much about that kind of cats, but my friend told me a lot about the cats. They have symmetrical stripes on their back! I looked on her back, and she really had symmetrical stripes! It was beautiful. Her name is Yu-chan, and she is very friendly. When I am just sitting, she tries to come to my shoulder, and starts sleeping. I didn’t know that cats are so friendly. I thought cats don’t play with people, and they like playing by themselves. I wasn’t cat person, but I felt I wanted to have my cat. However I won’t have cat because I have a dog, Shiro! Shiro might be jealous, so I won’t have any other pets. (143/ 3813 words)

Perfume First in the World

Do you like wearing perfume? What kind of smells do you like? I like perfume, but strong smells makes me feel bad. Sometimes I get headache, but I like catching a faint scent of perfume. The perfume which is in the picture is my friend’s one. She was not sure, but she said that this is the perfume which was made for first time in the world. She got the perfume from her boyfriend! It was so sweet, isn’t it?
I think wearing perfume is good because when I smell something good, I feel happy.(95/438 words)

K.G.U. OPEN CAMPUS

On Sunday, we had Open Campus at K.G.U. I was helping them by handing around the drinks with my friend, Erika. At first, Erika and I took Shuttle bus from K.G.U. to Koutsu-center to pick some high school students who wants to go to K.G.U Open Campus up. Then we went back to K.G.U and handed around the drinks. It was kind of fun because I was with my friend. However, standing all day was kind of tired. We had Open Campus next Sunday, too, so Erika and I came to school and did that again. (96/343 words)
